Overview
The Speech to Text (STT) feature in Chat lets you dictate messages using your microphone. As you speak, your words are transcribed in real time and placed directly into the chat prompt box, so you can compose and send messages entirely hands-free.
Prerequisites
Before using Speech to Text, make sure the following are in place:
Supported browser β Your browser must support audio recording. Modern versions of Chrome, Edge, and Firefox are recommended. Safari support may vary.
Microphone access β You must grant the browser permission to access your microphone when prompted.
Active microphone β Your microphone must not be in use by another application at the time of recording.
Step by Step Usage Guide
Open a Chat in Hatz
Locate the microphone button in the Chat prompt
Start recording by clicking the microphone button to begin. The button will change state to indicate it is active:
Speak clearly into your microphone. You will see your words appear in the prompt box in real time as interim transcriptions.
When you pause speaking for approximately 1 second, the current phrase is finalized and locked into the prompt box.
Click the microphone button again to stop recording. Any remaining buffered speech is finalized and added to the prompt.
The transcribed text is now in the prompt box. You can edit it manually before sending.
Press Enter or click the send button as normal.
Edge Cases & Limitations
Text is always appended, never replaced. If you already have text in the prompt box, dictated text will be added after it. There is no mode that replaces existing text.
Interim transcriptions may differ from final results. Words shown in real time may be revised as the transcription is refined. Only finalized text is committed to the prompt.
Unsupported browsers may not show the microphone button.
This can only be used to input text into the prompt box. Speech can not be used to control other parts of the Chat like model and tool selection.
