A customer space is a space your team shares with one of the customers you manage. Your team and the customer's people work in the same space, and you decide which instructions, files and memory the customer can see.
This article is for managed service providers (MSPs). For spaces in general, see Spaces: a shared home for your team's ongoing work.
Internal spaces and customer spaces
Internal space: for your own team. Only people in your organization can join.
Customer space: shared with one customer. Your team runs it, and you choose who from the customer's organization joins.
A customer space can be private or shared with specific people. Customer people must be added individually; eligible members of your MSP team can also have access through an existing group. It can't be shared with an entire organization.
Create a customer space
You can create a customer space if you have an MSP role and can work with that customer.
On the Spaces page, choose New space.
Choose Customer space.
Under Customer, choose the customer. You can't change the customer later.
Give the space a name, and optionally a description.
Add Internal instructions for your team and Customer-visible instructions for the customer. You can change both later.
Choose Create.
Turn an internal space into a customer space
An internal space can't become a customer space. Make a copy instead: open the space's … menu, choose Duplicate, choose Customer space and a customer, then confirm. The copy keeps the internal instructions for your team. The original space doesn't change.
Choose what the customer sees
A customer space keeps your team's content apart from what the customer sees.
Instructions: Internal instructions are for your team only, and only your team's chats use them. Customer-visible instructions are what the customer's people read, and their chats use them.
Files, memory and skills: what your team adds starts as Team only. To show something to the customer, change it to Visible to customer. Only managers can share team-only content with the customer.
Add the customer's people
Open the space's Members tab and choose Add people, or choose Share.
Search for people from your team or from the customer, and add them.
Choose a role for each person, then save.
People from the customer can have Can view or Can contribute. Only people on your team can have Can manage or own the space.
The Members tab shows your team and the customer's people separately. People from the customer see your team's names, but not their email addresses.
What the customer sees
The customer's people find the space on their Spaces page. It shows Shared by with your company's name. They can open the chats shared with the space, and the instructions, files and memory you made visible to them. If they have Can contribute, they can also start chats in the space.
The customer's admins can see every space shared with their organization in Settings > Spaces, under Spaces from your service provider. They see each space's owner and which of their people are in it. They don't see the space's content unless they're a member.
Disconnect the customer
When the work with a customer ends, the space's owner can disconnect the customer. On the Members tab, choose Disconnect and confirm. Everyone from the customer loses access at once. Your team keeps the space.
Only the space owner can disconnect or reconnect the customer. To give the customer's people access again, choose Reconnect.
Chats in a customer space
A chat that has been in a customer space stays with that customer. It can't move into another customer's space or into an internal space.
Chats in a customer space can't have share links. Share them with the space instead.
Your personal memory is off by default in customer spaces. Space memory still works.
Transfer a customer space
The owner can transfer a customer space to someone on their own team. People from the customer can't own a customer space.
