Extra Usage

This article covers Extra Usage in Hatz which is used to allow tenants to go past the credit limit of their package. This article has general information about Extra Usage along with the steps to enable it for a tenant.

Extra Usage Overview

Extra Usage lets eligible organizations continue working beyond their monthly credit allowance up to a monthly cap they control. Availability and behavior can depend on your plan and tenant configuration.

Checking eligibility

Extra Usage is not available to all organizations. You can check whether it is available to yours by going to the Tenants tab on admin.hatz.ai. If you do not see the Extra Usage column for your tenants, contact your Hatz account team.

How it works

When Extra Usage is enabled, your organization can consume credits beyond its monthly package allowance. You set a monthly spending cap — a maximum amount of additional credits your organization can use in a billing period. Usage stops automatically when that cap is reached.

Extra credits reset alongside your regular monthly allowance at the start of each calendar month.

How Extra Usage is billed

For eligible usage-based billing accounts, Extra Usage is billed at the end of the billing period and charged automatically to the MSP's default payment method. Keep the payment method current, and contact your Hatz account team for account-specific pricing or billing questions. Your agreement remains the source of truth for commercial terms.

How to Enable Extra Usage for a Tenant

Follow the below steps to enable Extra Usage on a tenant:

  • Login to admin.hatz.ai and select the "Tenants" tab

  • Find the tenant you want to enable Extra Usage for and select the "Not enabled" button to the right

  • Input the dollar amount or the number of credits that you want to set as the limit for extra usage

  • Select "Confirm"

Rate limiting and Extra Usage

Customers with Extra Usage enabled have different overage limits compared to the standard rate limiting behavior. While your organization is consuming extra credits within your configured monthly cap, eligible platform features generally continue to operate normally, subject to normal product availability, plan limits, and tenant configuration.

Standard rate limiting behavior applies to organizations without Extra Usage. See Rate Limiting and Credit Overage for details.

Email alerts

When Extra Usage is enabled, admins receive email notifications as your organization's extra usage approaches and reaches the monthly cap:

  • At 80% of your cap — usage warning

  • At 95% of your cap — second usage warning

  • At 100% of your cap — cap reached; extra credits are no longer available for the remainder of the month and the tenant will be rate limited unless additional credits are added to Extra Usage

Managing Extra Usage

MSP admins can view current extra credit consumption and update the monthly cap from the "Tenants" tab by selecting the gear icon.

Changes to the cap take effect immediately.
