Settings > Spaces is on the web app.
Admins can use Settings > Spaces to control how people in the organization use spaces, see which spaces are shared, and take over a space when its owner leaves.
Open Settings > Spaces
Go to Settings and choose Spaces under your organization's settings. The page is for admins. Anyone else who opens it sees Access restricted.
Space policy
Space policy controls who in your organization can create spaces.
Allow creating spaces: people in your organization can create spaces and turn chats into spaces. When you turn it off, people can no longer create spaces or turn chats into spaces. Existing spaces keep working.
If your managed service provider turned a setting off, it shows Turned off by your managed service provider and you can't change it.
Shared spaces
Shared spaces lists every space shared with people in your organization. Private spaces are not listed.
For each space you can see its owner, how it's shared, how many members and linked items it has, and when it was last active. Search by name, owner or customer, and filter by Active or Archived.
Transfer a space
Use this when a space's owner has left or someone else should take it over.
In Shared spaces, find the space and choose the Transfer ownership button (crown icon) in its Actions column.
Under New owner, choose a person in your organization. You can't transfer a space to yourself.
Choose Transfer and confirm.
The new owner takes control of sharing and settings, and the current owner becomes a manager.
Admins can also transfer a shared space from inside it: open the space's … menu and choose Transfer ownership.
Private spaces can't be transferred by an admin. A private space stays with its owner.
Archive or restore a space
Choose the archive button on a space's row and confirm. Archiving hides the space from everyone's spaces list and makes it read-only. Its chats and items are kept. You can restore it here later, or a manager can restore it from the space.
To restore a space, set the filter to Archived and choose the restore button on its row.
Spaces can't be deleted.
Spaces from your service provider
If a service provider manages your organization and shares customer spaces with your people, Settings > Spaces also shows Spaces from your service provider. For each space you see its owner and which people from your organization are in it. The content stays with the space's members, and only the space owner can disconnect your organization. See Customer spaces for MSPs.
Common questions
Can I see what's in a private space? No. Private spaces aren't listed, and only their owner can open them.
Can I transfer a space from my phone? Not yet. Use Settings > Spaces on the web app.
Can people share spaces with the whole organization? You can't create a new whole-organization share. Existing whole-organization shares stay in place until a manager chooses Specific people, or the owner chooses Private, and saves. See Share a space and manage people.
